Office parties, festive events, family get-togethers and endless nights out; the Christmas party season has arrived and we are ready for it. If you’ve got a big party coming up and turning heads is top of your agenda, then take heed of our top five beauty tips and trends for looking sparkly bright this festive season.

NO. 1 – GOLDEN GIRL

Gilded eyes are big news for AW16; enjoy your own gold rush with bronze and copper shimmer shadows. Really easy-to-wear and flattering on all skin types, this is a foolproof trend to try now. And if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, metallic gold eyebrows have been given the green light too!

NO. 4 – SHIMMER NAILS

It’s an obvious one, but it’s a good one. Your nails should be nothing less than sparkly throughout the whole of December. From pretty shimmer shades to stand-out metallics, check out Butter London for (in our opinion) the best range of festive-ready shades.

NO. 2 – BLACKBERRY LIPS

Deep-hued lips come back around every winter, but this time we’re talking deeper, more pigmented shades of blackberry and aubergine. If super dark shades scare you, try playing around with different hues. And if all else fails? Try wearable lip stains in wine and cherry.

NO. 3 – RIBBON DETAILS

Put a ribbon on it. That’s our answer to all party hair wonderings this Christmas. Keep it cute and simple with a low pony or give it some glam with a volumised half-up/half-down look. It’s also a great way to recycle your pretty packaging on Christmas Day.

NO. 5 – THE HALO BRAID

For a modern take on the party season’s classic up-do, opt for an on-trend halo braid. Relaxed and always a little bit ‘undone’, it’s easier to recreate than you might first think. Simply plait your hair in pigtails, bring up above your head and pin both braids neatly in place. Top tip: give it a try on the day after you’ve washed your hair as this will help it stay in place.
